The EV world has a new update once again, as BMW officially released updates for its i4 lineup for July 2025. The German car company has introduced the i4 M60 xDrive as a new range-topping model, and there are increased efficiency measures for the entire i4 lineup.
Efficiency Across the Range
BMW has fitted the i4 eDrive35 and i4 eDrive40 with upgraded power electronics featuring silicon carbide semiconductors. This tech replaces the old silicon-based inverters and gives around 4.5% better energy consumption. That’s an extra 22km of range depending on the spec.
The new power electronics system has less energy loss during the conversion from battery DC to motor AC. That also means less cooling required and overall system efficiency gains.
Range and Performance
The efficiency gains have bumped the i4 eDrive35 range to 428km according to WLTP and the i4 eDrive40 to 510km for the highest consumption spec. The i4 eDrive40 gets an extra 17km of range from the previous 493km in this specific setup.

New Top Model: i4 M60 xDrive
The i4 M60 xDrive replaces the old M50 xDrive and is the new performance flagship of the range. The updated model has a 442 kW total system output, 42 kW more than the previous one.
Key Performance:
- System Power: 442 kW
- 0-100 kph: 3.7 seconds
- Top Speed: 225 kph (electronically limited)
- Range: Up to 551km (WLTP)
- Charging: Up to 205 kW
- Torque: 795 Nm
- Front Axle: 200 kW
- Rear Axle: 250 kW
