Electric SUVs in India are getting busy with VinFast confirming its entry in September 2025. The VinFast VF6 electric SUV segment is going to get more crowded with the Vietnamese manufacturer’s debut offering.
Electric SUVs in September: The electric SUV segment in India is seeing new entrants with VinFast launching during the 2025 festive season. The VF6 will compete with established models and will capture market share in the premium electric SUV segment.
VinFast VF6 Details
The first electric SUV from VinFast in India is the VF6. Bookings start June 2025 and deliveries in September 2025. The VF6 will roll out in 33 cities and will have dealerships in major metros.
The price of VinFast VF6 starts at ₹18.00 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base Eco variant. The price of VinFast VF6 Plus variant starts at ₹35.00 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top spec.
Manufacturing and Assembly
VinFast has confirmed local assembly at its Thoothukudi facility in Tamil Nadu. The facility will start operations by June 2025 with an initial capacity of 50,000 units per annum. The local assembly will help in competitive pricing compared to imported electric SUVs.
The plant will scale up production to 150,000 units based on market demand. VinFast aims to achieve 30-40% localisation to reduce costs and improve price competitiveness.
VF6 Variants and Performance
VinFast VF6 will come in two variants in India:
VF6 Eco Variant

VF6 Plus Variant

Both variants will have front-wheel drive and automatic transmission. VF6 supports Level 2 AC charging and Level 3 DC fast charging.

Competition
The VinFast VF6 will compete with established electric SUVs like BYD Atto 3, MG ZS EV, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV and Mahindra BE 6. The pricing strategy puts the VF6 in the premium electric SUV segment with feature loaded offerings.
Market will get more crowded with multiple electric SUVs launching in 2025. VinFast will differentiate through local assembly benefits and advanced technology features.

VF6 comes with 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and digital driver display. Safety features include Level 2 ADAS suite with Highway Assist, Lane Centering Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control and Emergency Lane Keep Assist.
Additional features include heated and ventilated front seats, panoramic glass roof, dual-zone climate control and 360-degree surround camera. VF6 has over-the-air updates and spacious cabin with ample legroom.
