So you’ve been waiting to see where Mahindra’s SUV design is headed next? The Mahindra Vision S concept is your sneak peek into that future. Unveiled at the Freedom NU event, this compact SUV combines tough off-road DNA with futuristic flair. Based on the company’s all-new NU_IQ monocoque modular platform, it will support petrol and diesel engines, hybrid and electric powertrains.
Design: Rugged Meets Futuristic
The Mahindra Vision S concept has a bold, boxy stance that wouldn’t look out of place next to a Land Rover Defender. The front has the signature Twin Peaks logo with vertically stacked LED lighting bridging inverted L-shaped headlights. Below, a chunky bumper hides what looks like radar equipment for advanced driver-assist tech.
From the side, it’s clear it’s an adventure-ready vehicle – thick cladding, camera-based mirrors, a roof ladder, and even a jerry can on one side. Star-shaped 19-inch wheels with red brake calipers add a sporty touch. At the back, the tailgate-mounted spare wheel and inverted L-shaped tail-lights confirm its off-road credentials.
NU_IQ Platform Benefits
At under 4 metres in length with a 2,665mm wheelbase, the Vision S proves compact doesn’t have to mean cramped. The NU_IQ platform can handle multiple drivetrains – ICE, EV or hybrid – and FWD or AWD layouts. It can even be adapted for both left-hand and right-hand drive markets.
One cool engineering bit is the flat floor design, even for ICE versions, which should translate into more cabin space. Safety is also top priority, with Mahindra aiming for a 5-star rating in global crash tests like GNCAP and Euro NCAP.
Interior and Tech
Mahindra is keeping the interior under wraps but teasers suggest a twin-digital display running the new NU_UX interface and a flat-bottom steering wheel. Expect a modern, intuitive and slightly sci-fi feel when the cabin is finally shown.
Launch Timeline
The Mahindra Vision S is part of a bigger product push, with production models expected to roll out from 2027. This concept hints at Mahindra’s plans to blend ruggedness with tech and position itself as a global premium SUV player.
