Maruti Ertiga: August’s best seller

Maruti Ertiga led with 18,445 units, beating July’s top seller Dzire as MPVs cashed in on family focused demand and value. Maruti had 8 models in the top 15, showcasing the breadth of their portfolio this month.

Dzire’s rise and fall

Dzire was second with 16,509 units, a strong YoY growth but a MoM drop as sedan demand cooled in the second half of the month. The momentum shifted from compact sedans to utility focused body styles, just like the overall market.

Hyundai Creta holds SUV crown

Hyundai Creta finished third with 15,924 units, retaining its position as the best selling SUV line, including N Line and EV numbers where combined. Despite a MoM and YoY decline, its 1.5 petrol/diesel and feature loaded trims kept volumes steady.

Tata Nexon and EV boost

Tata Nexon clocked 14,004 units, beating Brezza by 384 units, with EV numbers sustaining interest despite intense compact SUV competition. The model range across turbo-petrol, diesel and EV is a big draw in price sensitive segments.

Price context and buyer math

Ex-showroom prices for Ertiga are around ₹9.12-13.40 lakh, Dzire ₹6.84-10.19 lakh, Creta ₹11.11-20.92 lakh and Nexon ₹8.00-15.60 lakh in Delhi. Dealers reported deferred purchases before GST 2.0 from September 22, which impacted August numbers along with weather related footfall.
