Triumph Motorcycles has brought the Scrambler 400 XC to India at an ex-showroom price of ₹2.94 lakh. This motorcycle is Triumph’s entry into the adventure touring segment and is designed for weekend warriors and trail enthusiasts.
Priced correctly (and we’re told it will be) for India as well (where is has just officially been launched), it is a significant new element in Triumph’s 400cc growth model. It was positioned ₹27,000 higher than that of its sibling, the Scrambler 400X, which was a good increase in terms of price, considering that you also got a lot of extra off-road hardware and ability on offer.
Engine and Performance
The Scrambler 400 XC gets Triumph’s proven TR-series 400cc single-cylinder engine. It produces 40 PS of power at 8,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine comes with a 6-speed transmission with slipper and assist clutch for smooth gear shifts in aggressive riding conditions.
The power delivery is linear as per Triumph’s philosophy making it accessible to both new and experienced riders. The engine has enough grunt for highway cruising and efficiency for daily commuting.

Off-Road Capabilities and Suspension
The motorcycle has a comprehensive off-road package that differentiates it from road focused variants. The front gets 19-inch cross-spoked wheels while the rear gets 17-inch units, both with tubeless dual-purpose tyres for grip on various terrain.
The suspension has 150mm travel USD forks at the front and monoshock at the rear. This setup can absorb bumps from rough surfaces and maintain stability at high speeds. The longer travel is useful when riding on broken tarmac, gravel paths and light trails.
Additional off-road bits include hand guards for rider protection, engine protection bars, raised front mudguard and small windscreen for wind deflection on highway sections.
Technology and Safety
The Scrambler 400 XC has switchable traction control that adapts to different riding conditions. Riders can adjust the intervention levels based on the surface. It gives confidence in tricky situations.
The braking system has off-road ABS that prevents wheel lockup and allows controlled slides when needed. This is useful during trail riding where some rear wheel slip can help in cornering.
The motorcycle has full-LED lighting with integrated DRL, semi-digital instrument cluster for essential info display and USB charging port for device connectivity. Key-based immobilizer for security and adjustable brake and clutch levers for rider adjustability.
