I’ve been following the buzz around the BMW GS F 450 for months now, and honestly, it feels like the kind of machine that could shake up the adventure touring scene in India. With patent images of the production-ready model now doing the rounds, there’s no more hiding. BMW’s Baby GS is almost here, and it’s coming in hot.
This isn’t just another scaled-down ADV. I remember catching a glimpse of the concept at EICMA 2024 and then seeing it in full glory at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. The aggressive beak, the broad tank, the sleek tail. It looked like a proper younger sibling of the R 1300 GS. And thankfully, the production version stays true to that vibe. It’s got LED lighting all around, a full-color TFT dash with Bluetooth, and even a rotary dial.
What really caught my attention was the riding setup. BMW seems to have nailed that sweet spot between comfort and capability. High bars, split seats, mid-set pegs. It’s clearly made for long hauls but doesn’t shy away from dirt either. The suspension setup with USD forks up front and a monoshock rear should make weekend trail runs more than just possible. And with 19-17 inch alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless rubber, it’s ready for both tarmac and trails.
A brand-new 450cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin pumping out 48 bhp and 45 Nm paired with a 6-speed gearbox sounds just right for Indian terrain. While the concept weighed in at 175 kg, the production bike might add a few kilos thanks to road-ready kit.
The GS F 450 is set to take the place of the discontinued G 310 GS. With BMW joining hands with TVS for local production, pricing is expected to stay competitive around ₹4 to ₹5 lakh ex-showroom. It’ll go head-to-head with the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, Honda NX500 and CFMoto 450MT.
