Electric Family Cars Galore This July
India’s electric vehicle wave is getting stronger and this July, two new MPVs are joining the party. The Kia Carens Clavis EV and MG M9 are coming with solid specs and sharp design – and they couldn’t be more different.
One is for budget-conscious families. The other? A full-on electric limousine experience.

Kia Carens Clavis EV – Smart, Simple, City-Ready
Launching on July 15, 2025, the Carens Clavis EV is for families who want to switch to electric without compromising on practicality. It looks and feels like the regular Carens but with EV-specific bits like a closed grille and charging-friendly features.
Under the hood (or floor, in this case), it packs a 51.4 kWh battery with a MIDC range of 490 km. There’s also a smaller 42 kWh version with around 390 km range which would be more affordable. Power figures expected to be around 171 PS making it good enough for daily commutes and weekend drives.
Inside, it gets many features from the ICE model. You get dual 12.3-inch displays, panoramic sunroof in higher trims, wireless charging and ventilated front seats. Safety’s covered too with six airbags standard, 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS features.
The best part? It’s expected to start at ₹16 lakh (ex-showroom) – a strong value in the EV segment.

MG M9 – Electric Luxury on Wheels
Meanwhile, the MG M9 is gearing up for its debut toward the end of July, offering a whole different level of electric luxury. This is not your average people mover – it’s an electric MPV that brings business-class comfort to the road.
The 90 kWh NMC battery should give an internal-test range of 548 km, while WLTP estimates around 430 km. A motor on the front axle produces 245 hp and 350 Nm and with 160 kW DC fast charging you can charge from 30% to 80% in about half an hour. A full home charge with an 11 kW AC charger will take around 10 hours. But where it really stands out is inside. From second-row captain seats with massage and ottomans to 64-colour ambient lighting and dual sunroofs, this is like a moving lounge. There’s also JBL audio system, rear entertainment screens and electrically sliding rear doors. It’s luxury on wheels with Level 2 ADAS and all the tech you’d expect at this price.
The MG M9 is likely to carry a premium price tag, somewhere around ₹65 to ₹70 lakh (ex-showroom). While official announcements are awaited, interested buyers can already express interest with an unofficial booking amount of ₹51,000.
