Why is Honda recalling the Africa Twin in India?

The Africa Twin recall is due to a potential defect where repeated bending of a harness wire in the left handlebar switch can cause oxidation and poor electrical conduction at the joint terminal over time. This can lead to horn not sounding or difficulty in switching between low and high beam.

What is the specific wiring issue?

The issue is in the wiring harness of the left handle switch where continuous handlebar movement can degrade conductivity at the joint and can cause intermittent function of horn and headlight beam selector; Honda’s authorized fix is to replace the affected wiring harness and components. This is a precautionary measure for rider visibility and alerting functions and not the core powertrain systems.

How to check if a bike is included

Owners can check eligibility by entering the Vehicle Identification Number on Honda’s official website VIN checker and will also be contacted by the company via calls, emails and SMS. Dealers will coordinate inspection and rectification once parts are available.

Will the repair be free and when does it start?

Honda will replace the affected wiring free of cost, regardless of warranty, and dealership work will start from 4th week of January 2026 to minimize downtime. Communication to affected customers has already started to schedule the service.
