Technology and Features

Honda has loaded the E-VO with technology that’s not available in conventional motorcycles:

  • Riding Modes: Eco, Normal, Sport modes for power delivery and regenerative braking
  • Safety: Dual channel ABS, traction control, side stand motor cut-off
  • Charging: Type-A and Type-C USB ports for device charging

Home charging (1.8 kW) and standard AC car charger (3.4 kW) support for daily use.

Will Honda E-VO come to India?

For now the Honda E-VO is exclusive to the Chinese market. But Honda has announced plans to set up a dedicated electric vehicle manufacturing facility in India by 2028 which shows they are serious about the Indian EV market.

Their Indian operations have already launched electric scooters like Activa e: and QC1, so they are taking a gradual approach to electric mobility. Future electric motorcycles for India might have different specifications and pricing tailored to Indian riding conditions and expectations.

Given the competitive pricing in the Indian electric motorcycle segment, Honda would need to tweak the E-VO’s features and pricing strategy before launching it in India. The current pricing of ₹3.56 lakh to ₹4.39 lakh puts it in the premium segment which might not appeal to the mass market.

Industry experts say Honda’s entry into India’s electric motorcycle space will depend on factors like charging infrastructure development, government policies and consumer acceptance of premium electric two wheelers.

The Honda E-VO is a big step forward for electric motorcycle technology, practical range with innovative features. Will Indian consumers see this neo-retro electric cafe racer on Indian roads? Only time will tell.
