There’s something brewing in the Indian motorcycling world and if you’re anything like me, someone who’s been watching KTM’s every move, you’ll feel the buzz too. The KTM 160 Duke is finally launching this August and I can already tell it’s not just another number added to the Duke family. This one feels personal, especially for Indian riders.
When I first heard KTM was phasing out the 125 Duke, it made sense. The bike never really clicked here, too pricey, not punchy enough. But this new 160? It’s a whole different story. KTM seems to have actually listened this time. They’re crafting this bike specifically for us, the Indian market. That alone sets a tone of intent.
From what I’ve gathered, the KTM 160 Duke will pack a 160cc liquid-cooled engine, likely a slightly under-bored version of the 200 Duke’s heart. You’re looking at a potential 19 to 20 bhp and around 14 to 15 Nm of torque, figures that’ll not only match but possibly outpace rivals like the Yamaha MT-15.
But it’s not just about power. This bike is expected to sit on the same solid trellis frame as the 200 Duke, and that means USD front forks, dual-channel ABS and proper corner-carving confidence. Add in full LED lighting, a sleek TFT console with Bluetooth, and you’ve got a machine that looks, feels and rides like it belongs in a higher class.
