Maruti Omni is back in news again, thanks to a flood of YouTube videos and articles going viral claiming a 2025 launch. Rendered designs, speculated features and prices are fuelling this comeback fantasy. But here’s the catch, none of it is official.
Maruti Suzuki has not announced any plans to revive the Omni. In fact the iconic van was discontinued in 2019 due to evolving safety and emission norms. Since then the company has focused on newer models, especially the Eeco which replaced the Omni in both passenger and cargo segments.
Why Omni Was Discontinued
- Outdated Safety Standards: Flat front design didn’t meet modern crash safety norms and lacked crumple zones.
- Missing Mandatory Features: Couldn’t fit in airbags, ABS and parking sensors.
- Emission Norms Compliance: Old 0.8L petrol engine wasn’t fit for Bharat Stage 6 emission standards.
- Dated Design: With few updates over the decades, Omni struggled to keep up with changing buyer expectations.
What’s Fueling the 2025 Rumours?
- Nostalgia Factor: Omni has a cult following in India, so it’s clickbait content for creators.
- Speculative Renders: Concept videos and 3D designs are often mistaken for real development leaks.
- Zero Official News: Maruti Suzuki has not confirmed any plans for Omni comeback.

Final Word
