Is Maruti Wagon R Flex Fuel Launching Soon? Find Out!

Maruti is gearing up to launch the Wagon R Flex Fuel, India’s first mass-market ethanol-powered hatchback.

If you’ve ever wished for a car that’s easier on the wallet and better for the environment, the Maruti Wagon R Flex Fuel might just be worth the wait.

First shown at Auto Expo 2023 and later at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2024, this Wagon R variant is built to handle ethanol-blended fuel from E20 to E85—promising cleaner emissions and reduced fuel expenses.

Maruti hasn’t confirmed a launch date yet, but it has hinted that its first compact flex-fuel car could arrive by late 2025. Some sources even suggest it might stretch to early 2026 or April 2027. So while the excitement is real, we may still be a year or two away from seeing it in showrooms.

Under the hood, the Flex Fuel Wagon R is expected to get the same 1.0L and 1.2L petrol engines as the regular version, with manual and AMT gearbox options. But it’s the tech upgrades—like ethanol sensors, a heated fuel rail, and corrosion-resistant components—that make it flex-fuel ready.

Performance is expected to stay similar to the petrol model, with mileage around 23–25 kmpl. As for pricing, estimates suggest ₹7 to ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom), slightly higher than the standard Wagon R.

Maruti’s move into flex-fuel tech supports India’s push for cleaner mobility and energy independence. If priced right, the Wagon R Flex Fuel could offer a smart, eco-friendly choice for daily drivers—without compromising on practicality.
