Nissan’s Bold New SUV Spotted Testing Ahead of 2026 Launch

Nissan is all set to make a comeback in the Indian SUV space. For the first time, a heavily camouflaged test mule of Nissan’s New SUV has been spotted on our roads and even under the disguise, it’s hard to miss its confident stance. Scheduled to launch in mid-2026, this midsize SUV is gearing up to take on the Hyundai Creta – a big ask given the Creta’s dominance in the segment.

Box and Rugged – A Road Presence That Commands Attention

Even with the body hidden under camouflage, the SUV’s shape is unmistakable. It has a rugged, upright stance that feels more Patrol than city crossover. A prominent grille with the Nissan badge up front, C-shaped bumper elements that could house DRLs or fog lamps, muscular squared-off wheel arches and five-spoke alloys that add to its planted look and flat tailgate and rectangular tail-lamps that promise a clean rear profile.

Built on Familiar Ground, With Its Own Identity

Underneath it shares the CMF-B platform with the upcoming Renault Duster but Nissan is making sure this isn’t just a rebadged twin. Expect a unique interior, distinct styling cues and a feature set tailored for its buyers.

Power is likely to come from a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine producing around 152 bhp and 250 Nm, with a manual or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. A strong hybrid could join the lineup later and even a CNG variant is reportedly in the works.

Packed With Modern Features

While the cabin shots are still under wraps, industry chatter suggests a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera and possibly more features to take on the competition.

When it launches in mid-2026, Nissan’s New SUV won’t just be taking on the Creta. It will also challenge the Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun and Honda Elevate. If the test mule is anything to go by, Nissan might just have a serious contender for India’s most competitive SUV segment.
