Suzuki officially commenced production of their inaugural e-ACCESS electric scooter at the Gurgaon facility, marking their entry into India's electric two-wheeler market.

Suzuki's First Electric Scooter Is Here – e-ACCESS Enters Production, Launch Nears

The Indian electric two-wheeler market just got a big boost as Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited officially rolled out their first electric scooter, the e-ACCESS, from their Gurgaon facility in Haryana. This marks Suzuki’s entry into the rapidly growing electric mobility space in India.

Production Begins at Gurgaon Plant

The e-ACCESS production is a big shift for Suzuki India. The Gurgaon plant, which was earlier used to manufacture conventional scooters, has been upgraded to manufacture electric vehicles. The manufacturing setup has special equipment and quality control process for electric vehicle components.

The production follows the scooter’s debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in January where it got a lot of attention from industry experts and potential customers. Bringing the electric vision to Indian roads is what Suzuki is committed to.

Launch Timeline and Price

Industry sources suggest the e-ACCESS will be launched around September 2025 and pricing will be announced in the coming weeks. The scooter will compete with TVS iQube, Ola Electric S1, Ather 450X and Bajaj Chetak Electric.

The expected price range of Rs 1.00 lakh to Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom) puts the e-ACCESS in the premium electric scooter segment. Suzuki is focusing on quality and reliability rather than aggressive pricing.

Technical Specifications and Performance

The e-ACCESS has a 4.1 kW electric motor producing 15 Nm of torque, enough for urban commuting. The scooter has a top speed of 71 km/h, suitable for city traffic and highway entry ramps.

Battery is a key differentiator for the e-ACCESS. Suzuki has chosen a 3.07 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack, prioritizing longevity and thermal stability over maximum energy density. This is in line with the company’s focus on long term reliability and safety.

The scooter has an IDC certified range of 95 km on a single charge, enough for most daily commutes. Charging options include a portable charger which takes 6 hours 42 minutes to fully charge, fast charger takes 2 hours 12 minutes to fully charge and 1 hour 12 minutes to 80% charge.

Design and Build

The e-ACCESS has a new design language different from Suzuki’s Access 125. Sharp lines, raked front apron and integrated LED lighting gives it a modern look. The scooter weighs 122 kg, making it easy to handle.

Three dual tone color options are available: Metallic Mat Black No.2 with Metallic Mat Bordeaux Red, Pearl Grace White with Metallic Mat Fibroin Gray and Pearl Jade Green with Metallic Mat Fibroin Gray. The color options gives it visual differentiation while being mass market friendly.

Feature Set and Technology Integration

Modern connectivity is at the heart of the e-ACCESS experience with its full-color TFT LCD display and Bluetooth integration. The Suzuki Ride Connect-E mobile application gives turn-by-turn navigation with real-time traffic updates, call and message notifications and remote vehicle monitoring.

Three riding modes (Eco, Ride A and Ride B) allow you to customise performance to your preference and riding conditions. Eco mode is for maximum range, Ride A and Ride B for more power.

Other features include keyless entry, USB charging port, 17-liter under-seat storage and regenerative braking system. The maintenance-free belt drive system means no chain maintenance required.

Market Positioning and Competition

The e-ACCESS enters a crowded electric scooter market where everyone is playing the price game and features are the norm. Suzuki’s approach is to focus on build quality and reliability over specifications. We are leveraging our reputation in the Indian two-wheeler market.

This is the same strategy that has worked for the conventional Access 125 which has been selling steadily over the years without being the cheapest in its segment. The electric variant aims to replicate the same success in the EV segment.

Charging Infrastructure and Practicality

The e-ACCESS has home charging through its portable charger which is a major concern for many electric vehicle buyers. The fast charging option gives you flexibility to charge at commercial charging stations.

The 95 km range covers daily urban commuting and the multiple charging options makes it practical. The LFP battery technology ensures charging efficiency and long term durability.

Safety and Reliability Features

Safety features include CBS, tip-over detection and side-stand interlock system. Regenerative braking system provides extra braking and range extension. The build quality extends to electrical components as well with weather sealing and durability testing to ensure it can withstand Indian conditions.

Future

The e-ACCESS launch is more than just another electric scooter. As one of the most trusted two-wheeler brands in India, Suzuki’s entry into electric mobility will impact overall market acceptance and EV adoption.

The success of this first electric scooter will decide Suzuki’s future EV strategy including electric versions of other popular models. The company has already announced plans for more electric offerings so the e-ACCESS is a foundation for a bigger electric portfolio.

The e-ACCESS combines Suzuki’s traditional strengths of reliability and build quality with modern electric vehicle technology. As production starts to ramp up for the September launch, the Indian electric scooter market is ready for a new player that prioritises long term satisfaction over short term market positioning.
