Intro

Tata Punch facelift spotted testing in India, gets cleaner look with connected LED light bar and Punch EV design cues. For a car that tops the micro-SUV charts, this update matters because it keeps the Punch fresh against the Hyundai Exter and adds features that buyers expect.

What’s new on the outside

Early images suggest Nexon-style connected LED signature at the rear, revised DRLs up front and a cleaner bumper. The overall shape remains the same but new alloys and a tighter front face give it a more premium look. Expect minor panel tweaks rather than sheet metal changes to keep costs in check and improve quality.

Interior and features: tech lift

Inside, the facelift is expected to get a larger 10.25-inch free-standing infotainment screen, two-spoke steering with illuminated logo and digital driver’s display. Ventilated front seats, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, air purifier and touch-based climate control are on the cards. While some reports differ on the exact size, spy shots confirm a fully digital driver’s display, with a larger 10.25-inch unit expected on top-end variants, consistent with the Punch EV.

Engines and performance: same old

Under the hood, the Punch is likely to carry forward the 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and factory-fit i-CNG options. Outputs should remain around 88 PS and 115 Nm for petrol and 73.5 PS and 103 Nm for CNG with 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT (petrol). While an AMT for the CNG variant is a possibility, this feature has not yet been confirmed by sources and is highly speculative at this stage.

Ride, safety and driver aids

The suspension and hardware should be the same as before which already balances city comfort with decent handling. Safety is where the facelift could improve, with six airbags becoming more common and features like 360-degree camera, ESC, hill-start assist and TPMS filtering down to more variants. The current Punch’s good crash test performance is a good base to start with and broader feature standardization would be a welcome move.

Price and launch

Price should be close to current prices with a small premium for the added features. Expect a starting price of around ₹6 lakh ex-showroom and final prices to vary with features and trims. Launch is expected to be in late 2025 but exact timing and variants to be announced later.

Conclusion

With a cleaner look, better cabin and features where it matters, the Tata Punch facelift will continue to be a volume leader. Should Tata manage to integrate the connected lighting and enhanced safety features without a significant price hike, the updated Punch will remain a highly compelling option in its segment.
