Something big is happening in India’s EV space this Tuesday. On July 15, three global electric vehicle players—Tesla, VinFast, and Kia—are making a move, all at once. It’s not often we see this kind of energy in the market together, and honestly, it feels like a new beginning.
Tesla is finally opening up to Indian buyers, starting with a new showroom in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex. They’re bringing in the Model Y from Shanghai, though high import duties make it cost over ₹49 lakh. It may be expensive, but the hype around Tesla is hard to ignore. People are even talking about Elon Musk attending the launch with PM Modi. Whether he does or not, it’s already a big deal.
VinFast is serious business. Pre-bookings for the VF 6 and VF 7 start Tuesday and they have 32 dealerships in 27 cities. From Noida to Kochi, they’re covering all bases. And they’re not stopping there—a more affordable VF 3 is coming later this year.

And then there’s Kia, launching the Carens Clavis EV. It’s being called India’s first electric seven-seater for everyday families. Priced around ₹17 to ₹18 lakh, it promises up to 490 km range, smart charging options and solid EV support through Kia’s expanding charging and service network.
This isn’t three car launches. It’s a moment when electric mobility in India feels a lot more real.
