Triumph Thruxton 400 India Launch Leak – Design and Specs Revealed

I’ve been waiting for this one. The moment I saw the Triumph Thruxton 400 roll out onto the stage this morning, something clicked. Maybe it was the low-slung stance or that sleek half-fairing catching the light just right. Either way, Triumph has done something special here. They’ve taken the classic café racer spirit and repackaged it for modern India.

This isn’t just another bike in their 400cc lineup. No, the Thruxton 400 looks and feels like a statement. It’s got that unmistakable retro DNA, sculpted fuel tank, bar-end mirrors, single-piece seat, and a minimal tail that practically begs for a tucked-in riding posture. And those clip-on handlebars? Let’s just say you’ll feel every lean into a corner, every twist of the throttle.

At its core, the Thruxton 400 uses the same 398cc single-cylinder engine found in the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X, producing close to 40 bhp and 37.5 Nm of torque. But thanks to the café racer ergonomics and lightweight feel, it rides like a totally different beast. Smooth 6-speed gearbox, torque-assist clutch, and solid hardware like USD forks and dual-channel ABS round out the package. It’s quick, but also composed, like a boxer in a tailored suit.

What really surprised me? The price. At 2.74 lakh ex-showroom, it’s not exactly cheap, but it’s definitely within reach for riders who’ve been dreaming of a Triumph badge without stepping into the big-league 650+ club. It is also the most premium option in Triumph India’s 400cc garage.

The Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 remains a dominant force among café racers, but the Thruxton 400 offers a lighter, more beginner-friendly option that holds its own.

If you’ve ever pictured yourself carving through early morning city streets, chin down, engine echoing off old walls, this might just be the bike you’ve been waiting for.
