Triumph Thruxton 400 India Launch Leak – Design and Specs Revealed

I couldn’t help but get excited when I saw the images. The Triumph Thruxton 400 has leaked in full, and if you’re even slightly into retro bikes with a sporty edge, this one’s going to get your pulse racing. It looks like Triumph is really pulling at the heartstrings of classic cafe racer lovers with this one, just ahead of its official India debut on August 6, 2025.

A Proper Café Racer, Finally at 400cc

The first thing that struck me? That gorgeous rounded half fairing up front, paired with clip-on handlebars and a hunkered-down stance. It screams retro, but not in a costume-y way. It’s elegant. It’s aggressive. It’s a proper nod to the larger Thruxton 1200, but in a more accessible, nimble package. You get bar-end mirrors, a sculpted tank, a removable rear cowl, all those subtle touches that make a true café racer feel like one.

And yes, that taillight is rectangular. I don’t know why that small detail hit me, but it adds this vintage edge that you don’t usually see in bikes at this price.

Performance You Can Actually Use

Underneath all that charm is a familiar 398cc engine. The same one from the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X, but likely tuned with a sharper, sportier feel. With around 39.5 bhp and 37.5 Nm, this single-cylinder mill has proven itself to be punchy, smooth and surprisingly refined. Add a 6-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch, and I can already imagine slicing through weekend traffic or hitting winding hill roads.

India-Specific Tweaks and Expected Price

To keep costs in check, the India-spec Triumph Thruxton 400 might skip premium international tires in favor of MRF or Apollo. But honestly, if it keeps the pricing sharp, that’s a smart move. The expected ex-showroom price is between ₹2.70 lakh and ₹3.00 lakh, and that’s seriously tempting for a bike that offers this much character, performance and street presence.

If you’ve ever dreamt of owning a true-blue café racer, something that looks like it belongs in a London alleyway in the 60s but rides like a modern machine, this might just be the one.
