7-Seater Volkswagen Tayron SUV India Launch in 2025 Officially Confirmed

Volkswagen to introduce premium 7-seater Tayron SUV in India by end of 2025 as a flagship model above the Tiguan.

7-Seater Volkswagen Tayron SUV India Launch Confirmed for 2025

Volkswagen has officially confirmed the launch of Volkswagen Tayron SUV in India, the 7-seater premium offering will be launched by late 2025. The German automaker is positioning the Tayron as its new flagship model above the current Tiguan R-Line in the Indian lineup.

The launch timeline points to a post-Diwali 2025 debut, some sources suggest January 2026 launch. This will help Volkswagen to cash in on the festive season demand and establish a strong presence in the growing premium 7-seater SUV segment.

Platform and Design Philosophy

Based on Volkswagen’s modern MQB EVO architecture, the Tayron sits on the same base as the new Tiguan and Skoda Kodiaq. The SUV gets the design language of the Tiguan R-Line but with more interior space and practicality.

The exterior has aggressive styling with LED matrix headlights connected by a signature light bar, large grille with air intakes and chrome accents throughout. The design is both sophisticated and road presence, for buyers who want premium looks without compromising on family functionality.

Interior Space and Comfort Features

The 2,789mm wheelbase of the Tayron translates into real usability for all three rows of seating. Unlike many 7-seaters where the third row feels cramped, Volkswagen has designed the Tayron to accommodate adults comfortably on shorter journeys.

Key interior features:

  • 15-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system
  • 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster
  • Three-zone climate control for personalized comfort
  • Panoramic sunroof for an airy cabin feel
  • Power front seats with ventilation and massage function
  • Wireless phone charging
  • 30-color ambient lighting options

The boot space of 885 liters with five passengers is practical everyday usability, not just a numbers game.

Performance and Drivetrain

Tayron will be offered with a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol engine under the hood which can churns 204 PS and 320 Nm of torque. This engine will be paired with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission for smooth power delivery and fuel efficiency.

4Motion all-wheel-drive is standard, for better traction and stability across various terrain. Monocoque construction gives a refined ride quality over ladder-frame competitors.

Safety and Technology

Safety is top priority with nine airbags as standard, along with 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring. Tayron will get Level 2 ADAS technology – adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking and driver drowsiness detection.
