Yamaha has officially unveiled the Mio 125, the world’s first geared scooter that promises to bridge the gap between conventional scooters and motorcycles. It will be available at Yamaha dealerships nationwide starting June 2025. While bookings are yet to start officially, some dealerships have started accepting offline bookings ahead of its official launch.

Yamaha Mio 125’s shapely styling sets it apart from your standard scooter. Featuring crisp LED headlights & a sleek angular body, this stylish 50cc model looks cool on the city streets & provides comfortable ergonomics, luxury upholstery, underseat storage & much more.
This scooter features dual-tone paint finishes with sporty graphics available in four color choices, as well as practical elements such as sturdy grab rails and 16-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tires for greater road stability.
Yamaha Mio 125: Technical Specifications
Mio 125 features an air-cooled 125cc engine capable of producing 9.5 horsepower and 10.2 Nm of torque, while its iconic feature – an innovative four-speed geared transmission system controlled using an unconventional foot shifter while keeping step-through design intact – stands out.
The Mio 125 boasts impressive fuel economy ratings of 45-50 kilometers per liter, making it economical for daily commutes. Plus, its lightweight chassis weighs only 105 kg – giving agile handling characteristics and easy maneuverability in urban environments.
Yamaha Mio 125: Features
The Mio 125 comes equipped with a modern fully digital instrument cluster that displays speed, fuel level, gear position indicator, and trip information. It also gets a 21-liter under-seat storage compartment that can accommodate a full-face helmet or daily essentials.
Safety features include a disc brake system for the front wheel with ABS on higher variants, while all models come standard with Yamaha’s Side Stand Engine Cut-Off feature. Additional features include a USB charging port, push-button start/stop, and auto-cancel turn indicators.
Yamaha Mio 125: Comfort and Handling
The scooter puts emphasis on rider comfort with its plush, well-cushioned seat and ergonomically designed riding position. Additionally, its suspension setup includes telescopic front forks with dual rear shock absorbers to effectively absorb road imperfections.

Yamaha has maintained the step-through design while using gear technology, with an exceptionally low seat height of 765mm ensuring riders of various heights can safely place their feet on the ground when stopped. Furthermore, fuel capacity stands at 5.5 liters providing plenty of range for city commuting.
Yamaha Mio 125: Variants and Pricing
The Yamaha Mio 125 will come in three variants – Standard, Deluxe and Sport. While prices have yet to be confirmed by official channels, industry sources indicate that the Mio 125 may be priced starting around Rs 95,000 ex-showroom.
The top-of-the-line Sport variant will boast additional upgrades such as a front disc brake with ABS, alloy wheels with wider tires, and premium graphics. All variants feature the groundbreaking two-wheeler’s revolutionary geared transmission system.
